Ingredients
- Mixed berries - 600g or 4 cups, fresh or frozen
- Cranberries - 1 cup
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Water - ¼ cup
- All spice - ½ tsp
- Ground Nutmeg - ¼ tsp
- Lemon juice and zest - 1 tsp
- Cinnamon - 3 sticks or one tsp ground
Instructions
Method:
This is a slow cooked jam recipe but you can use the stovetop as well.
First you will need fresh or frozen mixed berries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and black berries if you can get them…Or berries of choice.
In your slow cooker bowl, add all the ingredients except the lemon juice and zest. This will be just before you remove it from the bowl.
Set the slow cooker to low and leave it for overnight on Christmas Eve and in the morning you will have an amazing bowl of hot spicy jam for your breakfast.
This can be done anytime before christmas and put in a mason jar, or make this jam anytime of the year for a delicious jam for your family and friends for a gift.
When cooked in the morning, add in the lemon juice and zest, then put in your favourite jar and put on the table with your fresh bread, pancakes or bagels….this can be enjoyed all Christmas long.
Bonita’s Tips:
- Seasonal berries frozen are the best and I like to freeze them after the fall picking.
- Partridgeberries are my favourite sour berry use those too.
- Make more if you wish and double the recipe.
- Cook in the stove top Christmas morning if you don’t have a slow cooker, juice add everything to the saucepan and put the heat on low, stirring occasionally.
- Make on stove top use the same method just cook for 20 to 30 minutes on a low to medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Once you made this jam it will be hard to go back to a regular jam, the taste of cinnamon and spice is so lovely. “It feels like Christmas in every taste. “

Thank you so much for stopping by and remember you can make this jam on the stovetop as well for a quicker batch of jam or slow cooked to wake up to the smell of Christmas every time.
