About Bonita's Kitchen
Truth be told, Bonita's Kitchen started many years ago! As a busy, working mom, feeding my husband and two hungry boys, I had to get creative in the kitchen.
The Bonita's Kitchen you have come to know started when my son asked me to share my recipe for homemade bread with him on YouTube, so it was easy to watch any time. Turns out, more than just my son watched that video! From my kitchen to yours, it is my pleasure to give you a little taste of traditional Newfoundland cooking.
Bonita
Bonita Hussey is from Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador. For 27 years she and her husband Raymond lived in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where they raised their two sons, Bradley and Steven. They moved back home to Newfoundland in 2014, the year the channel began, and to Alberta in 2025 to be closer to family.
Bonita cooks and presents. Raymond films and produces the show under RM Hussey Productions. The recipes are the ones Newfoundlanders grew up on, Jiggs dinner, toutons, homemade bread, fish cakes and molasses raisin bread, along with newer dishes made with local ingredients.
Bonita would like to thank her husband, two sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, mother, family and friends for standing by her throughout the journey.
