Truth be told, Bonita’s Kitchen started many years ago! As a busy, working mom, feeding my husband and two hungry boys, I had to get creative in the kitchen.
The Bonita’s Kitchen you have come to know started when my son asked me to share my recipe for homemade bread with him on YouTube, so it was easy to watch any time. Turns out, more than just my son watched that video! From my kitchen to yours, it is my pleasure to give you a little taste of traditional Newfoundland cooking.
Where I’m from
I’m originally from a small community called Upper Island Cove in Newfoundland. For 27 years, my husband Raymond and I lived in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, raising our two boys, Bradley and Steven.
In 2014 we moved back home to Newfoundland, and that’s when the YouTube channel began. In 2025 we moved to Alberta to be closer to family. The recipes came with us.
Who makes the show
I cook and talk you through it. Raymond films every episode under RM Hussey Productions. Our son Steven looks after social media, and Bradley looks after the business side.

I would like to thank my husband, my two sons, my daughters-in-law, my grandchildren, my mother, and all my family and friends for standing by me throughout the journey.
From our kitchen to yours, have a lovely day!
Bonita
