Ingredients
- Tea Buns
- All - purpose flour - 2 cups
- Granulated sugar - 1/3 cup
- Butter - ½ cup, COLD
- sea salt - ½ tsp
- milk - ½ cup, COLD
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- egg - 1 large
- ground cinnamon - 1 tbsp
- Cinnamon Butter Spread
- butter or margarine - ½ cup ( COLD )
- ground cinnamon - 1 tbsp
- brown sugar - ½ cup
- vanilla extract - ½ to 1 tsp
Instructions
Cinnamon Butter Tea Buns
Preheat oven to 375º F, bake 15 to 20 minutes, cast iron pan.
Method:
In a bowl toss all dry ingredients together, then add pieces of cold butter and mix well together until crumble.
Mix egg and milk together in another bowl and add to mixture working it in with your hand or mixer with paddle until almost into a ball.
Preheat cast-iron pan in oven with 1 tbsp cinnamon butter let melt, remove pan from oven on a placemat or on a cork or towel.
Continue on forming dough into a ball then the dough in a log of dough to 11 x 2.5 inches... . Cut 12 to 15 pieces and place in a prepared cast iron pan or a baking pan. Top tea buns with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
Then put pan in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown. 190ºF internal temp.
Once baking is complete, remove pan from oven then place pan on the counter top.
Then add a few drops of cinnamon butter over bun. Then cover with a towel for a few minutes………eat hot or cold with cinnamon butter.
Cinnamon Butter Spread
½ cup butter or hard margarine ½ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp vanilla
Method:
In a mixing bowl add all ingredients above and blend until smooth. Then scoop into a mason jar with lid. Keep at room temp for this recipe and after refrigerate until next use. Spread over these tea buns or your favourite bagel.
