Hello everyone,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

As we step into 2026, let’s take a moment to celebrate all the wonderful moments we shared together in 2025.

This past year, we released 52 new recipes and videos across YouTube, our website, Eastlink Community TV, and Facebook. Your unwavering support has been the foundation of our success. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Eleven Years of Bonita’s Kitchen

2025 marked a very special milestone for us, our eleventh year of Bonita’s Kitchen.

Our family has grown to over 95,400 subscribers, and our videos have reached over 6 million views. It’s amazing to see how something that started back in June 2014 has grown into a global culinary community.

We were also honoured to be featured at #15 on the 25 Best Newfoundland Blogs list by FeedSpot in 2025. That was a real joy for us. You can check the full list here: https://bloggers.feedspot.com/newfoundland_blogs/

Highlights from 2025

This year was filled with many exciting moments and changes.

March

We moved to Alberta to be closer to our family. It has been such a blessing to spend more time with our grown sons, their wives, and our amazing grandchildren. Setting up Bonita’s Kitchen in a new home was a little challenging at first, but we are now settled and happy to be bringing you new and affordable recipes every week.

Our sons also introduced us to short videos, and we are now trying to share one each week. We would love to hear your feedback on these.

In March, we were guests on The Canadian Cookbook website, where we shared our delicious Tea Buns recipe and video. You can view that showcase here: https://www.canadiancookbooks.ca/bonitas-kitchen-a-littletaste-of-home/

May

We were featured in The Telegram in an article by journalist Cameron Kilfoy titled “Traditional Newfoundland and Labrador Recipes and How They Are Staying Alive.”

August

Our new cookbook, “What’s for Supper,” was released by Boulder Books. This is our third cookbook and our biggest yet, a 200-page book with over 75 recipes, full-colour food photos, and stories from my childhood in Upper Island Cove, NL. You can see the book here: https://www.bonitaskitchen.com/recipe/whats-for-supper-new-cookbook-release/

September

We released our new custom-made apron by Wild North Gear, created by our youngest son Steven. He designed and sewed each one himself and ships them from his storefront in Canmore, Alberta. Grab yourself one here: https://wildnorthgear.co/products/untitled-aug14_19-17

October

The Canadian Cookbook website showcased our new cookbook and hosted a contest. Congratulations to Danika Williams, who won a copy of What’s for Supper.

December

Downhome Magazine Editor-in-Chief Dillon Collins featured our cookbook and recipes in their Christmas magazine, including full-colour recipes and a little bio about me and our channel. You can see the Downhome feature here: https://downhomelife.com/a-taste-of-home-bonitas-kitchen/

Book Signing Update

We had scheduled a book signing at the Analog Bookstore in Lethbridge but had to cancel and plan it for a later date in the new year. Please keep an eye out for a new date and time. I would love to see you and meet you.

Our cookbook “What’s for Supper” is available at the Analog Bookstore in Lethbridge, AB: https://analogbooks.net

From Our Kitchen to Yours

Bonita’s Kitchen isn’t just about recipes. It’s about sharing our love of cooking and baking.

Our cookbooks, “Traditional Newfoundland Cooking and Recipes” and “A Little Taste of Home,” continue to be favourites, and we are so grateful to everyone who has welcomed them into their kitchens. You can explore our cookbooks here: https://www.bonitaskitchen.com/bonitas-kitchen-cookbook/
