Our old fashion blueberry doughboy dessert is made with fresh or frozen blueberries, and a soft dough that is cooked in with the blueberry sauce. **Frozen blueberries or fresh, these blueberries was picked here in NL last summer.**

Cook the blueberries, brown sugar, sea salt and water together for about 10 minutes until the sauce gets hot and all the ingredients are cooked.

**In a medium saucepan add blueberries.**

**Add brown sugar, sea salt and water saucepan over the blueberries.**

That is easy enough, now let the blueberry sauce cook for 10 minutes until all combined and sauce is hot and ready to add doughboys.

**Hot blueberry sauce and drop a tbsp of the batter into the sauce at a time.**

Ingredients

BLUEBERRY SAUCE:
Blueberries - 4 cups, fresh or frozen
Brown sugar - 1-1/2 cups
Sea salt - 1/2 tsp
Water - 1/4 cup
DOUGHBOYS:
Flour - 1-1/2 cups
Butter or margarine - 1/4 cup
Baking powder - 3 tsp
Sea salt - 1 tsp
Milk or Cold water - 1 cup

Instructions

In a medium bowl add flour, baking powder and salt, toss together, then add melted butter.

Add water or milk start mixing with wooden spoon to make a soft dough.

In a medium saucepan add blueberries, brown sugar, sea salt and water, let cook until the berries start to break down and the sauce is hot.

Then drop a tablespoon full of dough into cooked blueberry sauce, cover saucepan with lid and cook for 2 or 3 minutes on one side then flip over and the same on the other.

Bonita’s Tips: Serve hot with thick cream or ice cream, you also can serve in a wafer cup.

Make a ROOT BEER FLOAT!

2 Scoops of vanilla ice cream, then topped with cold root beer.
