I'm excited to share with you three but really four recipes to use caramelized onions in...
One is the onions fried, the others are a tasty gravy, cold dip and a HOT cream cheese dip.

Peel and cut the onion on the grain lines in the onion like a wedge, after that put the onions in your frying pan and cook with, butter and oil....Pinch of sea salt, pepper and onion powder.


Golden brown caramelized onions and full of flavour and like gold.
You can make so many amazing meals from having this as your base.

Ingredients
- Onions - 3 large, sliced thin
- Butter - 1 to 3 tbsp
- Sea salt - pinch to taste, as needed
- Black pepper - pinch to taste, as needed
- Onion powder - pinch to taste, as needed
- Olive oil - 1 to 3 tbsp

Instructions
Three Caramelized Onion Recipes
Caramelized Onion:
1 large onion 1 tbsp butter
pinch sea salt pinch black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp onion powder
Method:
First peel and cut your onion in quarter moon shapes, follow the lines in the onion to cut them thin. Then you will need a large frying pan, add butter and oil. Turn on stove top heat to medium heat. Add sea salt, pepper and onion powder, keep frying until the onion is brown and caramelized. Around 10 to 15 minutes. Put in a container to keep in the fridge until ready to use.
Onion Gravy:
1 cup caramelized onion 2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil pinch sea salt
pinch black pepper 2 cups vegetable broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 2 tbsp flour
Method:
Use the same frying pan as your caramelized onion and add butter and oil, let melt and warm. Then add the flour, mix around until the flour is like paste.
Then add vegetable broth, mix until you see the broth start to thicken, add the caramelized onions, Worcestershire sauce, then to taste, add a pinch of sea salt, pinch of black pepper and more onion powder if needed.
Add more broth if you like the gravy to be more runny, or less for thicker gravy. Pour hot over your food or pour in a mason jar to be used anytime. Keep in the fridge for one week.
Caramelized Onion Cold Dip:
1 cup caramelized onion ½ to 1 cup sour cream or greek plain yogurt
2 tbsp mayo 1 stick green onion or chives
1 tsp onion powder pinch sea salt
pinch black pepper 2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp roasted peppers (optional)
Method:
In a bowl add all of your ingredients except the roasted peppers. Mix together and taste to see if you like to add in something else or maybe freshly pressed garlic to taste. After put the mixture in a fancy bowl and top with a tablespoon of roasted peppers or even chopped olives for garnish. Serve with chips, tacos or naan bread.
Caramelized Onion HOT Cheese Dip:
Recipe
½ to 1 cup caramelized onions ½ cup sour cream or plain yogurt
1 pack cream cheese 1 tbsp mayo
1 tsp onion powder 1 stick green onion
pinch black pepper pinch sea salt
1 cup shredded cheese 1 garlic clove or more
1 tbsp olive oil
Method:
In a mixing bowl, add all of the ingredients above except the shredded cheese.
Blend together to soften the mixture and put in one casserole pan or two separate baking bowls…like a french onion soup bowl.
Preheat oven to 350ºf and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and serve HOT!! Top with more green onion.. Serve with a side of your choice, see video for ideas.

This cold caramelized onion dip is so lovely and I topped it with a few pieces of roasted peppers for garnish.

You can bake this dip in one large dish or two small single serving bowls….serve with tacos, chips or naan bread pieces. Serve HOT right out of the oven…you can also bake in your air fryer.
