Ham Tea Buns

If you are looking for a leftover picnic ham recipe, you are in the right place.
I'm always trying new recipes to use up our leftovers into other recipes.
This one I wrote in minutes because our traditional tea buns are so good I just tweaked it a little to make it a savoury bun.

Chop your leftover ham into small pieces, about one cup is lot's.

You can use other types of ham in this recipe but I wrote it meanly to use up our leftover home.

Ingredients
- All - purpose flour - 2 cups, sifted
- Brown sugar - 2 tbsp
- Cold Butter - ½ cup
- Sea salt - ½ tsp
- Cold milk - ½ cup
- Baking powder - 4 tsp
- Eggs - 2 eggs
- Ham - 1 cup, leftover ham or ham of choice
Instructions
Method:
In a bowl toss all dry ingredients together, then add pieces of cold butter and mix well together until crumble.
Mix one egg and milk together in another bowl and add to mixture working it in with your hand or mixer with paddle, then add the diced ham. “use leftover cooked picnic ham” until almost into a ball.
Continue on forming dough into a ball. Then take dough out of bowl and turn into a log of dough around 11 x 2.5 inches. Cut 12 to 15 pieces and place in a prepared cast iron pan or a baking sheet.
You can also pinch off the size you like but all the one size.
Mix one egg in a bowl and brush over the tea buns before you bake them.
Then put pan in a preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown. 190ºF internal temp.
Bonita’s Tips:
- You can also add ham of choice to make this recipe.
- Use a different sugar if you wish, the brown sugar gives it a taste of baked ham.
