DUFF Pastry

If you are looking for a homemade duff pastry you are in the right place!
I have a simple recipe with ingredient's you have in your cupboard.
Also it can be baked with your Sunday roast or on it's own for a tasty side bread.

Add flour, butter, sugar and sea salt and pinch together...

Pinch the dry ingredient's together and next add one egg, evaporated milk or milk of choice into another bowl.

Add the whisked egg and milk into the dry ingredient's, flour together with a spoon and after use your hand or mixer.

Ingredients
- All - purpose flour - 2 cups, extra for dusting countertop
- Sugar - 1/3 cup
- Cold butter or margarine - ½ cup
- Evaporated Milk or Whole Milk - ½ cup
- Sea salt - ¼ tsp
- Egg - 1 large
- Baking powder - 4 tsp
Instructions
Duff Pastry:
Recipe:
2 cups white or wheat flour 1/3 cup white sugar
¼ Tsp salt ½ cup cold butter
½ cup evaporated milk 4 tsp baking powder
1 egg
Method:
Mix all dry ingredients into a bowl, then add pieces of cold butter and mix well together.
Mix egg and milk together in another bowl and add to mixture, working it in with your hand or mixer until almost into a ball.
Continue on forming into a ball then put out onto a piece of wax paper or parchment paper. Cover with a sprinkle of flour and rollout the same size as your roast top.
"The roast or stew you are using the pastry for must be almost cooked and the gravy made before putting the pastry over the top".
After place on top of roast and gravy, put back in over 375ºF for 15 to 20 minutes or golden brown.
When cooked, remove from the oven and cut the duff in tea bun size pieces
Remove roaster and let rest 5 minutes then slice.
Allergens

You can use this pastry in different ways, for example! Roll it out and put the full pastry over the meal your making it for or cut them out the same as tea buns. Put them over the meal your making after the meat is almost cook and only about 15 to twenty minutes left on the recipe..
